I made a booking for a party of 8 persons (Flt & Hotel), the person I dealt with pre-empted most of my questions - provided answers and advice. This was achieved with understanding and a professional approach and attitude. MyGibraltar could point out that he was only doing his job, but it was HOW he did it. As a result we are looking forward to our trip with confidence.

Great no problems.VIP lounge at gibralter to not sure of my booking but resolved' could have done with out that.

I will check with the suppliers about the lounge issue. Usually Bland travel will send the list of people booked to the Calpe on the day of the flight home. Clearly something they can improve and thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Next year we have many new deals, just let me have your dates and I`ll price it up. Would you like to try another hotel for your next holiday?

Very good service from the two ladies that I sorted our trip with via the live chat on your website. The only thing we didnt get was the easyJet confirmation or check-in emailed to my email address, which was strange, but no real problem.

I tried to pay for 3 nights at The Caleta Hotel with my HSBC MasterCard credit card through the web site. The HSBC authorized and deducted the payment. Yet, My Gibraltar´s bank - Barclays Bank - refused to accept it for an unspecified reason. I tried this several times

Trying to get My Gibraltar to accept this fact was impossible - both of the people I spoke to insisting that the problem lay with me, my credit card and HSBC and that I had to sort it our when the problem was clearly at My Gibraltar´s end. I tried several times and even went through the transaction with HSBC Customer Support simultaneously on the phone who watched and confirmed the authorization and deduction of the money. Even so, I the people at My Gibraltar would not believe this and I even had to deal with a particularly unpleasant and aggressive gentleman in the Accounts department called Arun who just would not listen.

Finally, HSBC agreed to stop all internet payments to My Gibraltar (despite the transactions being theoretically binding and irreversible but did so because I am a long standing and reliable customer). Finally, I booked the hotel through My Gibraltar by phone with Shammika. The origin of the problem may have been my Spanish postcode - in which case My Gibraltar and their Barclays Bank are turning down every non UK resident trying to book with them - which they should have a careful think about given the business they are losing.

The stay at the hotel however was very nice but I will not be booking through My Gibraltar again and nor will anybody else from outside the UK (if only because Barclays will not accept their payments).

First and foremost, I am sorry to learn of the problems you faced with regards to your attempted payment. We process thousands of payments each and every year and most go through without any problems. I do apologise for the inconvenience you faced on this occasion.

Regrettably the travel industry does have a high incidence of card fraud and consequently there are many checks in place with any transaction to ensure that risk and exposure is minimised - both for us as a company and for the customer themselves. In your case, the booking was rejected due to an address mismatch given that the address in question was in Spain. Our bank alerted us to this and the payment was declined. As you know, because the payment did not go through online, Shammika was then able to take this over the phone.

I do appreciate that not accepting payments may seem counter-productive as a business but as mentioned above, in the rare cases that this happens, it is done to protect both the client and ourselves. I can assure you that when any card or transaction is declined it is not a reflection on the cardholder and no offence is intended - it is purely a precautionary measure. The fact that you had booked with us previously was one of the reasons that we were subsequently able to take the payment online and verify the details, however, regrettably the online system does not allow for such recognition at present.

I do of course understand that all experiences are subjective and that we are only as good as the last time that we served you. However, as a previously loyal customer of ours, we would be sorry to see you go. If you would consider booking with us again in future, please do contact me directly before you book (nick@myvacations.co.uk) and I will gladly arrange a small discount on your booking.

Once again, please do accept our apologies for the problems you faced on this occasion.

Yet again, you do not get it. There is nothing wrong with my address and, indeed I use my card and this address to buy a number of things online including airline tickets and hotels e.g. Booking.com. Last. Minute. com etc. I never have a problem. The problem is your bank/system.

Thank you for your offer of a "small discount" but again you are not listening - I will not be booking through you again. Give the discount to someone else.

I also note that you have removed my feedback from your website
- shame because a lot of other people will be suffering the same experience where their money disappears into the ether between theirs and your bank.

I can assure you that I do very much understand the problem, however, my point was that the decision as to whether a payment is queried or not is not an arbitrary decision by My Gibraltar but one that is taken on the advice of our bank, Barclays. We do not query payments lightly for reasons which I am sure you will appreciate.

The fact that other merchants have accepted payments is really neither here nor there as I am sure that they use different banks or receive different advice. As I stressed in my original reply, the querying of a payment is done to ensure that both ours and our customers' monies are protected.

It is of course your prerogative as to whether you wish to book with us again but as I said before, we would very much welcome the opporunity to prove ourselves to you again in future.

With regards to the feedback onour site, I will certainly check to see what has happened with this, however, I must be absolutely clear that NO money has disappeared at any stage. Declining a payment is purely an ethical decision based upon card security.
