Getting To Gibraltar

Getting to Gibraltar

Just a short 2.5 hour flight from the UK, you have a choice of direct flights operating from Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton, Bristol, Manchester and Edinburgh Airports. Alternatively, you can fly from most UK, Irish and Scottish airports to Malaga International and we can arrange for you to be transferred by coach, private taxi or self-drive to Gibraltar. Collection of your hire vehicle from Malaga Airport has to be one of the most straightforward and uncomplicated processes we have experienced. Contact us for discounted rates on car hire or for coach and private taxi transfers.

If you are driving in from Spain or other parts of Europe, you can choose between the faster toll road direct to Gibraltar or the coastal road with its many mini-roundabouts which has no tolls but can take slightly longer. Total toll charges around €35 and you can pay with a debit or credit card or Euros. Parking at Gibraltar hotels is limited and, sometimes, chargeable so do check before you travel.

The roads in Gibraltar tend to be narrow and winding and non-Gibraltar registered vehicles are not permitted to drive up on the Rock of Gibraltar past the Pillars of Hercules.

Booking flights as early as possible will generally guarantee a discounted fare and a good choice of seats especially if you require extra legroom. Given the stark limited number of airlines operating to Gibraltar (only two and only from the UK) and the resulting limited number of seats, availability tends to be low and fares are high more so if you have left it until the last minute to book your trip.
